Multicasting Optimizes
Bandwidth Utilization
The IGMP proxy/snooping features offered in the
ZyXEL IP DSLAM family only forwards traffic to
subscribers requesting the specified multicast traffic.
This prevents unnecessary forwarding of multicast
traffic to all end points (including non-subscribers)
and thus freeing up bandwidth for bandwidth-
hungry applications, such as video streaming.
VLAN for Segmented Class
of Service and Sercuirty
By implementing VLAN (Virtual LAN) on the ZyXEL's
IP DSLAM, service providers are able to segment
different class of services easily. Each Permanent
Virtual Circuit (PVC) transformed to and from an
ATM-based CPE can be configured and mapped to
an assigned VLAN with different packet priorities.
Thus, service providers can differentiate the class of
services for Internet, VoIP and Video streaming. In
addition, VLAN on IP DSLAM also allows service
providers to provide network privacy and security to
B2B networks.
Complete DSLAM Family
For Different Deployment
Applications
Support Multiple Standards
for Different DSL Ranges
and Speeds
All ZyXEL's IP DSLAM models offer G.SHDSL/G.SHDSL.bis
and ADSL/ADSL2+ technologies in last mile
applications. Speeds range from 128 Kbps up to 24
Mbps and the loop-reach can extend up to 6 km. In
addition, the IES-5000 series provides the advanced
VDSL2 technology to support up to 100Mbps
downstream and 45Mbps upstream speed. By providing
access services using existing Ethernet infrastructure,
ZyXEL IP DSLAM series reduces installation cost and
allows broadband service providers to maximize
Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).
End-to-end Management
Minimizes the Operation
Cost
Besides basic configuration, fault, security and
performance management, NetAtlas Access EMS also
provides powerful and advanced remote
management capabilities to help service providers
minimize everyday operating costs. The loop-back
design helps isolate network problems, while new
firmware and IP DSLAM configuration allow changes
to be done remotely, eliminating the need for "truck
rolls" in order to provision new customers or
reconfigure services for existing customers.
All ZyXEL's IP DSLAMs use MSC1000 (Management
Switching Card) for uplink and subtending purposes.
MSC1000 comes with four Gigabit Ethernet
interfaces for easy deployment in a ring or tree
topology. ZyXEL provides a wide range of copper or
optical transceivers on the uplink and subtending
interfaces for applications of various distances and
media.
ZyXEL's IP DSLAM series offers a broad range of
options for every deployment environement and
scale. Available models range from an affordable 8-
port mini DSLAMs to versatile medium-size DSLAMs,
or 384-port modular DSLAM for large-scale
deployments. Two power inputs are available: the DC
version for central and remote office sites, and the
AC version commonly used for in-building
applications. In addition, selected models are
designed to comply with industrial standards for
being placed in a street cabinet to maximize
deployment opportunities.
