Expanding the GS2200 Switch Series

To address the challenges facing SMB business ZyXEL has extended the GS2200

family with the GS2200-8 and GS2200-8HP o ering 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports, and 2 dual

Personality Gigabit uplinks with 100/1000Mb Fibre Transceiver support. The GS2200-

8HP also delivers an 802.3at power budget of 180 watts for connection for IP-Cameras,

N Wireless AP’s or VoIP phones.

Enhanced Features and IPv6 Management

ZyXEL considers IPv6 as the future trend for

switches in small business and have added

complete IPv6 management capability to the

GS2200 Series. The switch features are not only

bene cial for high-density Gigabit Ethernet

deployments, but also perfectly suitable for

deployment at both the network core and edge.

The GS2200 Series provides an extensive feature

set including VLANs, CoS/QoS, Port Trunking,

Rapid Spanning Tree, Security (Port Security and

802.1X authentication) and network management

to meet evolving SMB requirements. Meanwhile,

the GS2200 Series delivers one of the most cost-

e ective Gigabit Ethernet solutions to enable

Gigabit converged networking for branch o ces

and SMB users.

Intelligent PoE for the GS2200-8HP

ZyXEL’s Intelligent PoE features provides two PoE

power supply modes:

• Classi cation Mode: the switch reserves the

maximum power (W) to each powered device

(PD) according to the priority levels.

• Consumption Mode: the switch manages the

entire power supply, so each connected PD gets

the actual power it needs optimising the PoE

budget.

In the Consumption Mode, ZyXEL’s intelligent

PoE in the GS2200-8HP will reserve the required

power automatically and you can set power

feeding priorities on di erent ports to maximise

power resource. This capability can increase the

number of devices connected and deliver a better

ROI for the business. The GS2200-8HP provides

180W of total budget power to ports 1-4 with

30W each and to ports 5-8 with 15.4W each. This

is su cient for full loading to support all SMB

vertical needs.
