IES-1000

IP-based DSLAM

More and more new Internet applications have been introduced to

change the landscape of a broadband service offering. ZyXEL’s IES-

1000, an IP-based DSLAM, terminates all the ATM circuits and

converts the traffic directly to the Internet environment. IP DSLAMs’

provide a distinct advantage over typical ATM-based DSL access systems because IP is the best approach for data transmission.

It provides better bandwidth utilization, ease of use, and low-cost advantages which an ATM based solution could not meet, this shows

that the deployment of IP networks in newly developed areas can be much more efficient than ATM infrastructure. The IES-1000

application is the best replacement for traditional T1/E1 services.
