VoIP Configuration
Setting up an SIP Account
The VoIP technology sends voice signals over the Internet Protocol. This allows users
to make phone calls and send faxes over the Internet at a fraction of the cost of
using the traditional circuit-switched telephone network.
The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an application-layer control (signaling)
protocol that handles setting up, altering and tearing down of voice and multimedia
sessions over the Internet. SIP signaling is separate from the media for which it
handles sessions. The media that is exchanged during the session can use a different
path from that of the signaling. SIP handles telephone calls and can interface with
traditional circuit-switched telephone networks. The Prestige can hold up to two SIP
account simultaneously. Please follow the instructions below to configure the SIP
accounts properly.
Note: You should have a voice account already set up and have VoIP information
from your VoIP service provider prior to configuring a SIP account on the unit.
With the account information supplied by your ITSP provider at hand you may start
the setup procedure.
1. Go to VoIP >SIP, select “Add New” for the Service selection and enter the
SIP server IP address supplied by your SIP service provider.
